Intro / Purpose

The Burien Pride Scholarship provides direct financial support to LGBTQ+ students, helping reduce barriers to education and opportunity.

This scholarship reflects the Burien Pride Collective’s commitment to investing in our community — not just through celebration, but through tangible support.

How Students Are Identified

The Burien Pride Scholarship is awarded in partnership with the Highline Schools Foundation, which helps identify eligible students within the Highline School District.

This partnership allows the scholarship to be awarded thoughtfully and responsibly, while protecting student privacy and ensuring support reaches those who need it most.

Why This Scholarship Exists

LGBTQ+ students continue to face disproportionate barriers in accessing education, financial support, and affirming resources.

The Burien Pride Scholarship was created to help ease those barriers by offering local, community-supported financial assistance to students pursuing their education.

How It’s Funded

The Burien Pride Scholarship is funded primarily through a major donation from the Highline Schools Foundation, with additional support from:

  • Movies at the Tin Room, our community movie night series

  • Community donations

  • Burien Pride Collective fundraising efforts

Every dollar raised stays local and directly supports the scholarship.
